About CRONE
CRONE — Character, Radiance, Openness, Nerve & Elegance — is a magazine for women in the second half of life who have no intention of fading quietly into the background.
In old stories the crone was the wise woman of the village: the one who had seen enough seasons to know what mattered, who kept the remedies and the recipes, who said what others were afraid to say. For a long time the word was used as an insult. We use it with affection and pride. Getting older is not a problem to be solved; it is a privilege that not everyone is given, and it can be the most interesting chapter of all.
What we write about
- Beauty After Fifty — makeup that works with a changing face, going grey with confidence, hair that thins, nails, fragrance and a simple daily routine.
- Style & Wardrobe — dressing the body you have now, colour, fit, capsule wardrobes and shoes that are comfortable and still beautiful.
- Move & Thrive — walking, strength, balance, flexibility and sleep habits, explained simply and with safety in mind.
- Home & Garden — decluttering, downsizing, a home that grows older gracefully with you, and gardens and balconies that bring joy.
- Purpose & Connection — friendship, family, grandparenting, volunteering, learning and finding meaning after full-time work and child-raising.
- Travel & Discovery — solo journeys, slow travel, packing light and planning trips at your own pace.
What we promise
We will never tell you to fight your age, hide your wrinkles or apologise for your body. We write about looking and feeling your best, which is a different thing entirely. We test advice against common sense and reliable sources, and we are honest when the evidence is thin or a product is mostly marketing.
We are not doctors, and CRONE is not a medical publication. When a topic touches health — exercise, sleep, changes in skin or hair — we explain the general picture and encourage you to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your own situation.
Who writes CRONE
CRONE is written and edited by a small team of women, most of us well past fifty ourselves, with backgrounds in fashion, journalism, gardening, teaching and caring for family. Every story is written by hand and read by a second editor before it is published. Read more in our editorial policy.
